Drums
Sam PartridgeSchedule: Mon – Sat
Originally self-taught from a young age, Sam cultivated roots in the music scene in Richmond, Virginia, where he began playing in bands at age 15. He has since played in groups from a wide range of genres, including pop, rock, post-hardcore, gospel, emo, and metal. Sam has played venues across the country, and is comfortable on bigger stages, local DIY spots, and everything in between. He has played with cover bands, church and pit groups, and has touring and studio recording experience with original music. His current gig is playing live drums for pop artist Cayley Spivey. Among his biggest influences are legends Larnell Lewis, Jerrod Sullivan, Calvin Rodgers, Zac Farro, Danny Carey, Mike Johnston, and countless others.
Since 2015, Sam has taught drum lessons individually and through a music school in Richmond, where he honed his expertise in providing students with the skills they need to succeed as a drummer and musician. His students have ranged in ages from pre-school to retired, and from total beginner to advanced in skill level. Sam is adept at meeting students where they are in their musical journey, providing materials and skills relevant to their interests and learning needs, and will always explain the importance of what is being taught and why. Pick up a pair of sticks with Sam today and start learning the most fun instrument in the world!
Outside of music, Sam enjoys spending time with his pets and loving partner, who is also a talented musician, and taking photos. He earned a BA in English from Randolph-Macon College, and does administrative work as a supplement to music.
